Datum Review publishes analysis built on numbers. These are the rules that govern how those numbers reach the page.
Every figure has a source
No statistic appears here without an identifiable origin. Where the figure comes from a third-party study, we name the study, link to it, and state its sample size and date. Where we cannot verify a number, we do not publish it — a paragraph without a figure is preferable to a paragraph with a false one.
Scope is stated, not implied
A finding drawn from 750 commercial prompts is not a finding about all queries, and we say so in the text rather than in a footnote. Where a study’s methodology limits how far its conclusion travels, that limit is stated where the number appears.
Correlation is not reported as cause
Where a relationship in the data is correlational, we say so explicitly, including when the causal reading would make the better headline.
Methodology is published before conclusions
For our own datasets and rankings, the methodology is published before the data is collected, not after the results are known. Weights, inclusion criteria and sources are disclosed in full.
Expert contributors
Practitioners quoted in our analysis supply domain expertise, not the underlying data. The data is assembled by the editorial desk. Contributors do not see or approve the conclusions drawn from it.
Disclosure and independence
Commercially arranged articles carry a visible label at the top of the page and are subject to these same standards. No arrangement grants approval rights over findings. Errors are handled under our corrections policy.
